Day 3
Home sweet home. . . At least for now, Concordia, KY.
At mid morning Eddie came back in Hubert's boat with his friend Steve and the parts. They pulled the boat into the shallow water, so Jimmy could put the propeller on; a very difficult task to do under water. After a couple hours we knew it couldn't be done.
We loaded into Hubert's boat and went to Clark's Tavern for the BEST fish sandwich! For those who haven't been there, we suggest you give it a try. We spent part of the afternoon at Steve's house and had a great time in the company of such good folks. There is a lot to be said for good ole KY hospitality! Eddie dropped Gary and I off at The Lucky Lady and took Jimmy with him to line up someone to tow us to Rocky Point Marina, 30 miles downstream.
Having thought Jimmy would probably get his ski boat and come back the next morning, we settled in for a quiet night onboard. Shortly thereafter we saw someone on the bank approaching from downstream. This guy, who seemed rather creepy, sat down directly across from our boat and howled like a wolf. He asked us for a ride. He asked us for a beer. We realized it was Jimmy and I rowed the dinghy in to being him back. All had been arranged. Two pontoon boats would arrive the next morning and tow us to Rocky Point.
Circumstance put us in Concordia and two days were spent with finest of people, who treated us like lifelong friends.
